Hello Jack,
Thank-you for your question.
Basically you are right that Load-Runner and zapGEN do the same type of testing, this is the performance(load) testing, but there are significant differences between these two testing tools – These are the major differences between Load-Runner and zapGEN:
1. zapGEN is currently the only performance testing tool that can run tests on mobile devices.
2. With zapGEN you can run your tests on any type of Browser (With Load-Runner you are limited only to IE).
3. zapGEN is the only performance testing tool that can run tests on any known OS (UNIX, all MAC OS versions, Linux, etc).
4. As you’ve probably read with Zap-fix you can create one test which can be used in different type of platforms (Cross-platform testing and 1 script solution) – This means you can run such script in zapGEN as well.
5. Zap-fix is a very dynamic tool which we can add to it any type of methods and events libraries on-demand, same thing with zapGEN: If there is a need to get some specific performance measurements this also can be created on-demand (Contrary to Load-Runner which all its available measurement are the only ones which appear out-of-the-box).
For more explanation about zapGEN and to get evaluation license to try it, please contact Zap at the following URL:
