      Hello ZAP,

      We heard that ZAPTEST can create functional tests for mobile applications as well:
      We use ZAPTEST for some time already, how can we use mobile devices to create automated tests?

      Thanks.

        Hello JSmith,

        Thank you for your question.

        Please follow these steps in order to create functional tests based on your mobile applications:
        1. Connect the mobile device which can run the specific app to a computer:
        You have to download its specific USB Drive, enable in its settings the “USB Debugging” feature and connect the device physically to the computer.

        2. Execute ZAPTEST and open the Device Manager, in it your connected device should appear:
        Click on it and then you’ll see all its installed applications.
        If the required app for testing is a Web based application, you can download and install the “ZAP Browser” app which can be used to access the web based app;
        If this is not a web based app please make sure to install this app in the mobile device before connecting the device to the computer.

        3. There are 2 main options to create the functional testing:
        3.1 Record the application’s business process, in the Record wizard you can select your connected mobile device and the application you wish to test;
        After selecting these features the Mobile Viewer will be executed and the selected app will be running in it.
        3.2 In the Device Manager execute the connected mobile device, click on the required app, the Mobile Viewer will be executed – Then you can use manual GUI scan to scan the different business process’s app pages to the Workbench (And continue the creation of the test same as you do with other applications when you use the Workbench).

        Please note there are 3 options for you to connect your mobile device:
        1. Connect it directly to the machine where ZAPTEST is being installed.
        2. Get the zapFARM utility to connect all your devices and access them from any place in the globe.
        3. Rent from ZAP a mobile (Or any other) device access.

        Please contact ZAP for further help.

        Thanks,
        Sasha
