      Hello jborthwick
ZAPTEST operates with GUI of application only. So API objects can’t be detected.

      Thanks,
      ZAPTEST Team.

The reason I ask is because we are able to create variables with values to check against. It seems intuitive that those variable values can be dynamic via the script engine. Right now I have to hard code values into the script. Id like to be able to have the script look something up to set a variable value. You can in a web browser via ajax etc. Is the JavaScript / vbscript engine not capable of making ajax calls?

At the very least, I could make an image of an API result as part of the GUI map section and do OCR on that, but that seems like a lot of work for the engine to do. I’d highly recommend allowing ui manipulation results to be checked against API lookups post script action.
Please let me know if the only way I can check values is via the OCR / edge detect engine.

Can you not link the engine to a local ODBC connection? Does Zaptest itself have an API that I can use to hook into it with some custom external executable?
